Exhibition “In the space of elsewhere”
London / United Kingdom 2008
osa _office for subversive architecture
Client: Stanley Picker Gallery Kingston
Curator: Deborah Smith
Team: Karsten Huneck, Bernd Truempler
The Stanley Picker Gallery does not appear as a space for contemporary art. Being part of the university campus – and housing master plan, it rather reminds on a family house.
This domestic feel had been exaggerated by creating a corridor with links to different rooms for the art works. For the new dividing partitions a translucent fabric had been used to allow a see through for putting the artworks in context. A carpet, running through the gallery from one entrance to the other, is emphasising the linking corridor element and draws the visitors into the gallery.
