Supercharger is exploring the duality between natural and man-made environments. Through a thorough research of the area around Pedrogao including the input by the municipality, professionals such as geographers as well as residents it became apparent that the area is dominated by man-made structures such as the dams, the water reservoir as well as the monoculture of eucalyptus planting. This notion of “artificially” is the overarching element that is expressed in the work of Supercharger. The reservoir is seen as a storage system for energy and therefore acts as a battery.
The Supercharger communicates this theme forming the symbol of a battery known from physics, a graphical interpretation of the two poles plus and minus. The interactive work will act as a communicator, bringing people together through play, sport, performance and art.
The artwork transforms its location into a gathering place for the local inhabitants as well as tourists in the area around Pedrogao on the macro level, and Atalaias on a micro level.
LANDSCAPE TOGETHER is an European project funded by Creative Europe, a journey meant to create a dialogue between heritage and contemporary art at the heart of rural Portugal
